JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District - Savannah Travel Guide
Where do I even begin?! Our trip to Savannah, GA was one of the best vacations we have ever been on. We have traveled all over the world, but this is hands down one of the best experiences. There is so much to do and see in Savannah. The history, food/drink scene, and entertainment is off the charts.
We stayed at the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in the Atlantic building. There are 3 different buildings that make up the JW that line the Riverside District. Each have a different vibe and theme, but all have a luxurious and unique feel about them. All of the different buildings you have the opportunity to stay in have stunning views that overlook the river. Each of the Kessler Collection Hotels have a unique story/theme engrained in all of the details throughout them. Literally every detail has been thought of. Something we loved about this hotel is that is both kid friendly and pet friendly.
We had the opportunity to stay in the Atlantic building! The Atlantic building is brand new and has an aquatic theme. The Atlantic building has an amazing rooftop pool and bar, which I will share more details about later in the post. This building not only has an amazing rooftop pool, it also has a concert hall. There are so many amazing bands booked to play already.
Since this was our first time to Savannah, we had no idea what to expect. We can’t recommend the JW enough. There are 14 restaurants in the hotel. You can charge everything to your room, it was so nice. There are numerous rooftop bars associated with the hotel that overlook the river. There were so many activities ever single day right outside the hotel. You could stay in the area all weekend and do something new everyday.
Also, if you want to venture out on the town, the JW is centrally located making it easy to walk everywhere you would want to go! It was a dream; the JW knows what they are doing! Below I will share what we did each day and answer some question you guys sent over.
Day 1
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with champagne. I thought that was so cool. We then walked around the Riverside until it was time to check in. The rooms are so luxurious and beautiful. The view.. again.. no words.
We freshened up and went to Myrtle & Rose rooftop bar. It was insanely beautiful and the drinks were delicious. We decided to venture out for dinner so we went to Cotton & Rye. They had amazing upscale southern cuisine. We finished the night at a bar in the hotel called BaoBab. They had some really fun cocktails!
Day 2
We were so excited to have a full day to do all the things! On Friday, we woke up and grabbed a coffee at the hotel and did a quick workout. The gym overlooked the rooftop pool. It was so neat. We threw on some casual clothes and we walked to Collins Quarter for breakfast. This place was out of this world good. Definitely add to your “must visit” list. I ordered avocado toast and it was the best I have ever had.
After breakfast, we were given an amazing tour of the hotel. We learned so much about each of the 3 different buildings that make up the JW Marriott Savannah. The amount of thoughtful design that went into crafting this hotel is unreal. Mr. Kessler’s personal art collection is featured throughout the hotel.
One thing that we learned during the tour is that the hotel has year-round events. So if you like to getaway during the holidays, there are amazing shows and entertainment going on at the JW. They even have live performers and live music on the street almost every night. We want to go back during the holidays!
After the tour we did a rooftop pool day! It was simply amazing. We ended up getting a cabana to celebrate our first parent getaway. The service was unreal, the food was incredible, and the view was indescribable. If you get a cabana, it comes with a full cooler, a bottle of wine, and there’s a tv too! We got an assortment of dishes and it was the best meal of our trip. You can get pricing on the cabana and daybed from the staff!
Before we headed off to dinner we decided to go check out another rooftop bar at the hotel. We ended up going to Electric Moon. This is where the adult slide is. So so neat!
For dinner we decided to venture out and try the Olde Pink House. Is was about a 12 minute walk from the hotel. The food was unreal and the atmosphere was a complete vibe. I would highly recommend checking this place out, but make reservations ASAP!
When we left, we came back to the hotel to listen to the band that was playing right beside the river. It was the most amazing day!
Final Day
The last day we woke up and decided to try to do as much as we could before we had to head out at 5am the next morning! We went to Little Duck Diner for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious!
We came back to the hotel and sat on the balcony, watched a little college game day, and got ready to take an Uber out to Wormsloe. If you’re into history and scenic walks, you would really enjoy visiting this historic site.
For lunch we went to Savannah Tequila Co., which is one of the hotel restaurants. They made some of the best margaritas I have ever tasted. All of their food is authentic Mexican cuisine. Definitely add this place to your “must eat at” list.
After lunch, we tried out Byrd’s Famous Cookies. Another thing that separates this hotel from others is boutique places like Byrd’s. The JW had so many cute spots to pop in and shop and eat. Everything was an experience.
For appetizers, we walked to The Grey. It was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. We ventured back over to the Plant Riverside District and picked up some Graffito Pizza to-go to complete the night! Since our flight was so early we decided to call it a night and just eat pizza in the room!
If you are looking for your next getaway, JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District is the place to stay! This was hands down one of the best experiences ever. If you have any questions about anything, just let me know! Happy traveling!
